Somethings fishy. (Dinner at Zauo)

We made reservations weeks ago for Zauo in Shibuya. Zauo's is a restaurant where you fish for your dinner. You catch it, they clean and cook it. Enjoy this play by play of one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had.
Right when you enter you are greeted with multiple fishing zones containing various species of succulent seafood.
First thing we get settled in.
We opt for an Omakase menu. Our first course.

After a bit of Kirin and sashimi we get down to business. Revan has had it out for an Olive Flounder ever since she found out this place. I equip her with a rod and after a few tug and runs she sinks her hook into tonight's 2nd course.
The staff collects our prized catch and asks Revan how she'll have it tonight. Half Sashimi and half fried she replies. She was raised with impeccable taste.

On the heels of the Olive flounder I'm ready to cast my line into the briny deep. I sink my line deep and true and retrieve a slippery 3rd course. The Conger Eel.

I request my eel tempura style and along with our 3rd course of eel comes a 4th course of vegetables, Daikon Streaks. In my opinion, this may be the best vegetable dish I have ever eaten. I'm not really sure why but vegetables in Japan (and really almost everything for that matter) taste heaps better than they do in the US.

The 5th course sees the waitstaff return to our table to collect the head and bones of the Olive Flounder. My curiosity as to why they want is soon answered in the form of a Miso Soup made from the Olive Flounders bones. Amazing.

The 6th hit me in right the nostalgia. Two skewers of fried tuna just like Miko used to make.

And 7th we see some seasonal rice topped with kabocha.

And lastly, a sweet treat of iced yuzu and shisho sorbet.

This is more than dinner, its a true culinary experience. I will count the days till I visit Zauo's once again!
